Home round for Schaeffler and Porsche in the Eifel
Time:22 Jul,2016
For Schaeffler and its partner Porsche a special event is coming up in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). On July 24, the global racing series will be holding its only German round at the tradition-steeped Nürburgring. When the FIA WEC was featured there for the first time last year 62,000 spectators flocked to the Eifel. Porsche managed a perfect weekend on its way toward the first WEC title at the time. After having set the best time in qualifying, the team celebrated a one-two result with its two Porsche 919 Hybrid cars.
This year augurs well again for the brand’s run in the German WEC round. Following their victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb are traveling to the Eifel as leaders of the drivers’ standings. Their advantage amounts to 39 points. As a result, it’s already clear that they’ll be leaving the Nürburgring as the leaders of the standings as well. Meanwhile Porsche is heading the FIA WEC manufacturers’ standings.
