Schaeffler and Rockenfeller to race in Russia
Time:18 Aug,2016
Next weekend (August 19–21) the Russian round of the DTM on the outskirts of Moscow is coming up. Moscow Raceway will host round six of the season – a track on which Mike Rockenfeller in the Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM has celebrated major successes before. The 3.931-kilometer circuit near Volokolamsk – some 80 kilometers northwest of Moscow – is the “youngest” circuit on the DTM calendar. It was inaugurated only in summer 2012.
For Rockenfeller Moscow Raceway is a good track. Of the four DTM races held there to date he has won two in the car sporting the green-yellow Schaeffler livery – both times from pole position. 2013 saw him win at the premiere, securing valuable points for his subsequent title win, and last year, “Rocky” won the race on Sunday. Now, he is aiming to continue this performance. Schaeffler has several locations in Russia including sites in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk. In addition, in 2014, a production site was opened in Ulyanowsk which primarily produces components for automobile manufacturers, as well as for the rail industry.
