The rough conditions of the high seas entail a high impact on the bearings
Klüber Lubrication presented its latest Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) for ships and offshore installations at SMM.
The Klüberbio EG 2 oil offers a high load-carrying capacity, shear stability and compatibility with seals, thus ensuring reliable operation of gears, thrusters and bearings.
It is a readily biodegradable high-performance gear oil and is compliant with the EU Ecolabel requirements.
"Klüber Lubrication offers a complete range of EALs for all relevant applications on board a ship", explained Dirk Fabry, business development manager for marine at Klüber Lubrication.
Speaking at SMM in Hamburg, he added: “The development of our eco-friendly speciality lubricants made for the extreme conditions prevailing at sea benefits substantially from the vast level of experience of the tribology experts at Klüber Lubrication.”
“As a result, they create powerful products contributing to less impact on the environment as well as longer maintenance intervals and component lifetimes."
The EALs meet the requirements defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the 2013 Vessel General Permit and current environmental standards.
New, environmentally sound high-performance lubricants Klüberbio LG 39-700 N and Klüberbio LG 39-701 N, which contain a base oil made from 100 % renewable raw materials, reliably protect open drives from wear, even at very low temperatures.
