Brocaw Bearing and Drive has been in West Plains since 1995 but many local residents don’t know what the company does. “It’s a little hard to explain,” said part-owner Glenn Johnson. “We sell and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and belt-drive parts to manufacturers all across the midwest.” Johnson went on to explain, “If a local factory needs a conveyer belt to carry planks of wood at a certain speed, we go in and build the motor to those specifics. If it moves too fast or too slow, it can cause them issues.” Brocaw Bearing and Drive has customers across the midwest. “We have customer’s from Sioux City, Iowa to El Paso, Texas,” said Johnson. The local company sees plenty of local business. “We have a lot of foot traffic in here throughout the week, too,” said Johnson. Brocaw Bearing and Drive sells bearings, belts, pulleys, chain and sprocket drives, gear boxes, conveyers, hoses and fittings, couplings, lawn mower parts, chainsaw parts and hand tools. “We make and sell a lot of hydraulic hoses for area farmers,” said Johnson. “We have access to elite companies and can offer their elite parts to our customers and our prices are comparable to other stores. We have good products at reasonable prices and we have a lot of things other stores don’t,” said Johnson. Johnson added that the nearest store that offers the same quality and quantity of goods is over 100 miles away in any direction. The thing that sets Brocaw Bearing and Drive apart from other business is their customer service. “We tell our employees to treat customers like you want to be treated and we have heard a number of people comment on our service,” added Johnson. Brocaw Bearing and Drive is located at 708 Washington Ave. in West Plains. The store’s business hours are 7:30 a.m to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, “Our business hours reflect our customers business hours,” said Johnson.
