ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport to race with Formula E in Marrakesh
Time:10 Nov,2016
All-electric motorsport running parallel to the international UN Climate Change Conference: Next Saturday (November 12), Formula E will be holding round two of the season in Marrakesh (Morocco).
A premiere for Formula E: On Saturday, the electric racing series is going to visit Africa for the first time in its young history. The race in Marrakesh is the second in a total of twelve rounds this season and the last one before a winter break of about three months. Following a thrilling season opener, most recently held in Hong Kong with Lucas di Grassi clinching second place, fans can expect to see an exciting continuation on a circuit that, covering a distance of 2.971 kilometers, is the longest one on the calendar.
In Marrakesh, Formula E is an official partner of “COP22,” the UN Climate Change Conference being held at the same time, attended by government delegates from around the world. However, this is not the only link between innovative electric racing and environmental commitment, as a near-one-hour documentary will be premiered on Sunday, featuring Lucas di Grassi driving a Formula E car on a glacier in Greenland as a symbol against global warming. Schaeffler supported this spectacular project as a partner.
The entire racing event in Formula E – free practice, qualifying and the race – takes place on a single day. For Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi, the action kicks off on Saturday at 08:00 local time (09:00 CET), the race starting at 16:00 local time (17:00 CET). In Germany, Eurosport provides live coverage of all races, going on the air this Saturday at 16:30 CET. In addition, Schaeffler will present the Formula E magazine program to be aired on Eurosport starting at 23:10 on November 15.
