Schaeffler and Porsche aim to claim next title in Bahrain
Time:17 Nov,2016
Schaeffler and its partner Porsche are celebrating a string of success. Following last year’s world championship title wins, Porsche defended its success in the manufacturers’ classification of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) early this year. In the finale in Bahrain on November 19, the Porsche campaigners will have good chances of winning the title in the drivers’ world championship as well.
Six out of eight race victories in the 2016 FIA WEC, plus an early win of the manufacturers’ world championship: the Porsche 919 Hybrid’s string of success has been unbroken. The finale in Bahrain will make for another thrilling battle, as Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb are leading the drivers’ classification for Porsche with a 17-point advantage. However, with 26 points yet to be awarded, their closest rivals still have theoretical chances as well.
The track in the desert of Bahrain, where temperatures are traditionally warm, will be the floodlit venue of a night race on Saturday.
